Aldcliffe with Stodday Parish Council

Stodday Picnic Site Completed

After a lengthy project, the refurbishment of the picnic site on the River Lune Estuary path is now complete.  The Parish Council’s gratitude goes to the Lancaster University Wind Turbine Community Benefits Fund and to Lancashire County Council for providing the grant funding to enable to project to go ahead.  We are also grateful to Lancaster City Council for the initial groundworks and for invaluable help and advice with the furniture.

The two picnic tables have now been on the site and in use  for several months.  The final pieces of furniture, comprising a seat and two benches, together with a new, substantial litter bin, were installed in late April.

A group of parishioners from both Stodday and Aldcliffe took advantage of the extra Bank Holiday on  Monday, 8th May for King Charles III’s Coronation to get together at the site and carry out some welcome tidying of the site and the surrounding shrubbery.

The brief interlude in the generally disappointing weather on the day gave our intrepid work party just enough time to enjoy a mini picnic of their own.

We are greatly encouraged by the use already being made of the site and the many positive comments that have been made by both parishioners and passing users.
