The Parish Council is constantly mindful of the hazards and inconvenience presented to residents (and others) by vehicles parking on Aldcliffe Road between Weeping Corner and the Haverbreaks bridge.

Councillors have, along with our County Councillor Gina Dowding, made representations over several years to Lancashire County Council (LCC) and the Canal and River Trust (CRT), with little in the way of a meaningful response or improvements in the situation.

In the context of a recent high level of public interest and disquiet about the situation, the Parish Council wrote, on 2nd June 2026 to the LCC’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, the Director of Highways and Transport, and the Chief Executive Officer of the CRT. We display here the Parish Council’s letter and a reply received on 5th June from Matt Townsend (LCC’s Director of Highways and Traffic). We await a reply from the CRT ‘s Chief Executive.

The Parish Council and Councillor Dowding will continue to press for action on this issue. We hope that the letters will help parishioners understand the arguments and barriers that we are facing in our attempts to do so.
