Recent freezing conditions have highlighted the need for access to grit to treat the parish’s roads, especially in the vicinity of the difficult hills and corners.
Missing Grit Bin at the top of Aldcliffe Hall Lane
The Parish Council, with the welcome support and assistance of County Councillor Gina Dowding, is continuing to press Lancashire County Council to replace the grit bin which unaccountably disappeared from the top end of Aldcliffe Hall Lane last Autumn. We are hoping that this will be rectified very soon.
*** Update 01/02/25. The County Council has informed us that the bin is to be replaced and is now on order. We are hoping it will be in place around the middle of February.
Personal Use of Highways Grit Bins
The Parish Council would like to remind parishioners that the grit bins provided by Lancashire County Council are provided solely for use on the highway when adverse weather makes road conditions hazardous. Please respect this and avoid the temptation to use the grit provided for personal/private use.
