Aldcliffe with Stodday Parish Council

Doorstep sellers

Following reports from within the parish, the Clerk has contacted our PCSO, Dave Owen for advice on the approach to doorstep sellers.

Dave informed us that the Police had received a number of calls from concerned residents from all over the Lancaster and Morecambe area about the same matter. His advice was as follows:

As long as doorstep sellers are not causing any nuisance, they are allowed to knock on doors and ask if residents are interested in purchasing anything from them. The response is down to the individual.

Doorstep sellers must be in possession of a valid permit and photo I.D. card with their contact details and which company they are selling for.

Dave commented that, in general, they are fine but the Police have had some complaints that they have been over powering in their selling talk .

The Parish Council is arranging to collect a supply of Doorstep Seller stickers from the Police for distribution to residents. If you would like one, please email the Clerk.

If you do have concerns about doorstep sellers and feel the need to report them to the Police, please feel free to contact:
