Aldcliffe with Stodday Parish Council

Lengthsman

Greg Robinson (Robinson Countryside)

Greg began work as the Parish Council’s Lengthsman in December 2018

The term ‘lengthsman’ dates back to the 1800s, referring to workers who were responsible for keeping a particular length of road neat and tidy.

Modern day parish lengthsmen provide a greatly valued service to their local community, doing jobs that create a big impact, such as ditch clearing, hedge cutting and sign cleaning. It will give this parish council a say over remedial work that’s important to us and our local area.

Greg has been commissioned to work in the parish on designated projects prioritised by the council. These priorities will be initially focused on …

  • Regenerating the impassable Snuff Mill Lane footpath leading to the river.
  • Clearing Aldcliffe Hall Lane’s overgrown verges.
